At times containers are blocked at the Customs of the importer country because of improper or insufficient documentation. As a result, Importers pay high demurrage, detention and storage fees. Among the reasons that lead to improper or insufficient documentation:
A) A container loaded with wines from different producers. Each of the producers use different documentation release forms and, together, create confusion
B) More often than not, information contained in documentation release forms is not correct.
C) Forms are not verified before they are delivered to Customs, i.e., Certificate of Origins are not detailed, laboratory analysis report the wrong information, etc.
Wine O’Cloc export department required each producer to:
1) Use standardized forms
2) Provide documentiation of the bottle, case, pallet and container weight. Producers are formally responsible for any uncorrect data provided verify the correctness of each document provided.
